Rail War Room

The Rail War Room has been set up by the Ministry of Railways to facilitate fast redressal of public complaints and grievances. Equipped with latest communications facilities, it will function round-the-clock to improve the services of the railways.

Key Facts related to the Rail War Room

  • The new war room is set up at the Ministry of Railways in Delhi to quickly address public complaints and grievances.
  • Called the Rail War Room (RWR), it operates 24/7, but currently works until 10 pm each day during the week.
  • Equipped with the latest communication facilities, the war room has a large screen to display complaints and redressal ratios for minute-to-minute monitoring.
  • This is the first time the Railways has taken such a step to monitor any untoward incidents or accidents in the future.
  • The objective of this war room is to enable board members and officials, including the minister and chairman of the Railway Board, to make necessary decisions in the event of a major incident or accident.

Features of the Rail War Room

The war room has chairs in adequate numbers for officials to sit in case of emergency or crisis times. Additionally, there are six monitoring tables that are allotted to officials from six major wings of Railways, including the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

Functioning of the War Room

Since its inception on May 2, the war room has received more than 5,000 complaints from the public, and 95% of them were quickly resolved, with feedback received. An RPF official is the first to receive the complaint, and he then forwards it to concerned authorities for swift resolution.
