China launches Zhongxing-26 satellite

China recently launched the Zhongxing-26 satellite at a cost of 333 million USD. It was launched on Long March 3B rocket. The main objective of the satellite is to provide broadband connectivity for aviation and ship-related operations. The satellite was launched by the China Academy of Space Technology. The CAST is planning to make 60 more launched in 2023.

What is special about March 3B Rocket?

The rocket uses liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen fuel in the third stage. Liquid rocket fuels require a controlled temperature to stay in their form.

China’s recent space plans

  • China is to launch more than 200 spacecraft in 60 missions.
  • It is to send a cargo craft, Tianzhou-6 by the end of 2023
  • Also, it is to send Shenzhou-16 and Shenzhou-17 to strengthen its Tiangong space station. Both these are crewed missions
  • Change – 7 spacecraft is to be launched to the South pole of the moon
