Nuclear Agreement by Mr. Singh

Of all the achievements of Mr. Singh, the nuclear agreement signed with the US is seen as historic. Under this agreement, India agreed to place its civil and military nuclear facilities under the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency). With this India received an exemption from the Nuclear Suppliers Group. NSG had controlled the nuclear exports to India following India’s first nuclear test in 1974. India faced difficulties in getting nuclear fuels because of this. The Civil Nuclear Agreement with the US helped India remove all the hurdles on its path to becoming a nuclear power.
