Enumerate the key highlights of the “Delhi declaration on countering the use of new and emerging technologies for service purposes”.

India is currently chairing the United Nations Security Council. The UN Counter Terrorism Committee Was attended by 30 presented tips of the 15 UN security council members. All the members of the committee unanimously adopted the Delhi declaration on countering the use of new and emerging technologies for terrorist purposes.

Key highlights of Delhi Declaration:

• The focus was placed on the threats from use of internet & social media, terrorism financing & new payment mechanism, and unmanned aerial systems, including drones for terrorist activities.
• Countering the use of new and emerging technologies for terrorist purposes.
• No justification of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
• Implementation of UN security council resolutions by member states for countering global terrorism.
• Prevention and suppression of terror financing.
• Global cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
• Making sure that the effectiveness of the Security Council sanctions regime is not hijacked under political motivations.

Terrorism is not a regional problem, rather it is a crime against all humanity. Therefore, global cooperation is needed to curb the menace of terrorism. The countries should rise above political differences to defeat the challenge of terrorism.
