The Chief of National Mission for Clean Ganga recently mentioned about the ‘Arth Ganga model’ during his address to the Stockholm World Water Week 2022.
It is the new model of sustainable development of rivers, which aims to connect people with the river through economy. The Arth Ganga initiative ‘strives to contribute at least 3% of the GDP from the Ganga Basin’. Its verticals include ‘Zero Budget Natural Farming, Monetization and Reuse of Sludge and Wastewater, livelihood generation, public participation and tourism.

Tech Major Google has made some several major announcements at its second edition of Safer with Google initiative event.
Some of them are ‘Child safety toolkit’ and ‘Cyber-security up-skilling program’ for approximately 100,000 developers, IT, and start-up professionals across the country. The company will organise hybrid Cyber-security Road show under this program with a target to reach nearly 100,000 developers, IT and start-up professionals.

‘National Sports Day’ or Rashtriya Khel Divas is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, the hockey wizard of India.
It is an annual observance that falls on August 29 and it aims to create awareness about the need and benefits of incorporating sports and physical activities into our day to life. Major Dhyanchand played a key role in India’s gold medal victory at the Olympics in 1928, 1932, and 1936.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 300-metre long ‘Atal Bridge’ for pedestrians and cyclists across the Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad.
Atal Bridge connects the two banks of Sabarmati River with the design inspired by the famous kite festival. Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the bridge from the Khadi Utsav event.

Linthoi Chanambam scripted history by winning India’s first-ever medal in Judo World Championships with gold in the Women’s 57kg category.
The 15-year-old Manipur-based judoka clinched gold at the World Judo Cadet (U18) Championships. She is the first Indian judoka to win a medal at any age-group category of the World Championships. She is also part of the Indian government’s TOPS programme.
