Twitter: ‘Unmentioning’ feature

The microblogging platform Twitter has rolled out “Unmentioning Feature”. This feature will allow uses to remove themselves from any conversations.

About Unmentioning Feature

  • This feature was launched amid ongoing chaos over Elon Musk’s walkout of USD 44 billion deal to buy Twitter.
  • Twitter was testing the Unmentioning Feature on limited number of users, till date. Now, it has been launched for everyone.
  • This feature will allow users to cut themselves from conversations they no longer want to be a part of.
  • It will help in protecting the peace of people by removing themselves from unwanted conversations.
  • Twitter has developed several other features for keeping mentions civil. One of such features include “anti-harassment Safety Mode”.

Elon Musk’s deal termination and falling shares

In the premarket trading, the shares of twitter lowered by about 6 per cent, in the midst of recent walkout by Elon Musk. Musk has recently terminated its worth USD 44 billion deal to buy twitter. Following this, Twitter announced to sue Elon Musk. Musk will require to pay USD 1 billion in termination fees to twitter, in line with earlier filing with US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
