- Ministry of Tribal Affairs has launched the Tribal Health and Nutrition Portal ‘Swasthya’ and opened National Overseas Portal and National Tribal Fellowship Portal. The e-portal on tribal health and nutrition named ‘Swasthya’, is a first of its kind e-portal, providing all health and nutrition related information of the tribal population of India in a single platform.
- Online Performance Dashboard named “Empowering Tribals, Transforming India” provides updated and real-time data and status of 15 schemes and initiatives of the Ministry meant for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
- ‘Tech for Tribals’, an initiative of TRIFED supported by Ministry of MSME, aims at capacity building and imparting entrepreneurship skills to tribal forest produce gatherers enrolled under the Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana (PMVDY).

Notes:- According to the global advocacy group, Center for Reproductive Rights, abortions are illegal in 24 countries, where about 90 million or 5 per cent of women of reproductive age reside. These include Senegal, Mauritania, and Egypt in Africa, Laos and the Philippines in Asia, El Salvador and Honduras in Central America, and Poland and Malta in Europe. Malta is the only country in the European Union that bans abortions under all circumstances.
- Around 50 countries — including Libya, Indonesia, Nigeria, Iran and Venezuela — permit abortions if a woman’s health is at risk. Several others allow it in cases of rape, incest or foetal abnormality.
- India’s Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, 1971 allows abortion until 20 weeks of pregnancy. An amendment in 2021 raised the ceiling for abortions to 24 weeks for special categories of pregnant women such as rape or incest survivors, that too, with the approval of two registered doctors.
- There is no upper gestation limit for the procedure in cases of foetal disability as long as it is approved by a medical board of specialist doctors set up by the governments of states and union territories.

- The Index ranks countries and regions according to the level of freedom available to journalists. However, it is not an indicator on the quality of journalism. Each country or territory’s score is evaluated using five contextual indicators: political context, legal framework, economic context, sociocultural context and safety.

- Nepal has climbed up by 30 points in the global ranking at 76th The index placed Pakistan at 157thposition, Sri Lanka 146th, Bangladesh 162nd and Myanmar at 176th position. China was ranked at 175th position.
- India has fallen eight places from 142ndto 150th in the 2022 among the 180 countries. India’s position has been consistently falling in the index since 2016 when it was ranked 133. The reasons behind fall in ranking is the increased “violence against journalists” and a “politically partisan media”.
