ONDC: ‘Grand Hackathon’ on Agriculture
Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) recently organised a three-day “Grand Hackathon”, in collaboration with NABARD.
About Grand Hackathon
- The Grand-Hackathon was held in hybrid mode, at the Bombay Stock Exchange in Fort, Mumbai.
- It is subdivided into two categories viz., Agri Grant Challenge and Agri Innovation Hackathon.
- Agri Innovation Hackathon will showcase the innovation for aiding the adoption of eCommerce in agricultural sector.
Significance of hackathon
The ONDC-NABARD Grand Hackathon will act as springboard for start-ups to associate with ONDC and innovate solutions for challenges in agri-sector. It will empower farmers across the India. It will probably become a game changer for India, as well as for e-commerce works across the world.
Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC)
Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) is an initiative of Government of India, that is aimed at building an open network for buyers and sellers to democratise current e-commerce ecosystem across India. It is very crucial in democratizing agri-value chain as well as ensuring the digital transformation of agri sector. With the help of NABARD, ONDC would be capable of on-boarding entire farm value chain, and bringing them on to e-commerce, specifically the FPOs, processors, mandis, MSMEs, exporters, and small retailers. ONDC helps in building up inter-operability of various platforms, and helps the consumers in getting greater choice of products near their home, besides providing different modes of logistics and payment.
Significance of ONDC
ONDC will help the small sellers, traders and farmers to take part in the market with an equal footing as large players. This will break limitations barrier for small players, in order to enjoy fruits of digital technology.
