To provide low-flow fixtures and sanitary ware at a mass scale to enable a reduction in water consumption at the source and help the country in its water conservation efforts and thereby ensure sustainable growth.

What activities will be done to achieve the aim of the BHARAT TAP initiative?

Awareness generation will be done to promote Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Certified Water-Efficient Plumbing Fixtures to ensure water savings of a minimum of 40%. Water-saving will also save energy as less energy will be required for activities like pumping, transporting, and purification.

What is the ‘Plumbex India’ exhibition?

It is India’s biggest standalone exhibition on Plumbing, Water, and Sanitation Products and service. It is a 3-day event started on 12th May 2022 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The exhibition is conducted under the aegis of the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Transformation 2.0 (AMRUT 2.0) and Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 (SBM 2.0). Various enterprises including water treatment systems, water harvesting, water metering, etc. represented at the exhibition.

What are the highlights of the Minister’s speech at the exhibition?

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that sanitation is the foundation in the hierarchy of basic services expected by the citizens. He highlighted that India achieved 100% toilet coverage in rural areas. He also said that Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) and AMRUT are critical in the creation of basic infrastructure and achievement of sustainable development.

What is the other initiative launched at the ‘Plumbex India’ exhibition?

‘Nirmal Jal Prayas’ initiative was launched at the exhibition by Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs.

What is ‘Nirmal Jal Prayas’ initiative?

It is an initiative of NARDECO MAHI to save 500 crore liters of water annually. Through the initiative, NAREDCO Mahi aims to generate awareness regarding saving water. For example, it will work to encourage builders to move towards “Net Zero Water”.
