Sahityotsav Literature Festival

Sahitya Akademi’s Festival of Letters known as Sahityotsav is India’s most inclusive literature festival. It is being held in New Delhi from 10th to 15th March 2022.

Overview:

  • This festival will be a part of the commemoration of India’s 75th anniversary of Independence.
  • The events are themed on independence or the independence movement.
  • There will be a specific corner at the Festival dedicated to displaying literature about India’s freedom movement as well as other items linked to the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
  • The Festival commenced with the inauguration of Akademi Exhibition by the Minister of State for Culture, Arjun Ram Meghwal.
  • The exhibition will highlight Akademi’s achievements as well as important events from the previous year.
  • 24 Indian languages recognized by Akademi will be represented by 26 young writers who will be participating in ‘The Rise of Young India’ event.
  • The ‘Panel Discussion on Publishing in Indian Languages’ will feature renowned publishers and authors representing several Indian languages.
  • On all the days of the Festival, Akademi‘s Book Exhibition will also be held.
  • On 11th March, the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Awards will be presented to the 24 Award winners.
  • On March 12th, 2022, all 24 Award winners will gather at the Rabindra Bhavan Lawns for a “Writers’ Meet” to discuss the creative process they used to write their Award-winning works.
  • On the 13th of March, the Akademi Auditorium will host a three-day national seminar on “Impact of Literature on Indian Independence Movement.” A seminar on “Fantasy & Science Fiction in Indian Languages since 1947” will also be held on the same day.
  • On March 15th, “Purvottari: North Eastern & Northern Writers’ Meet” will take place. On the same day, a symposium on “Literature & Women Empowerment” will be also be held.

India’s National Academy of Letters, the Sahitya Akademi is an organization dedicated to promoting literature in Indian languages. It was founded on 12th March 1954. It is headquartered in Rabindra Bhawan, Delhi.
