Ashwini Kumar Choubey inaugurates FCI laboratory in Gurugram

The Food Corporation of India (FCI) under Department of Food & Public Distribution (DFPD) developed its first State-of-art Quality Control Laboratory to conduct in house testing of food grain samples.

Key Points

  • Laboratory was set up under the guidance of “Central Food Technological Research Institute in Mysuru, Karnataka.
  • Quality Control Laboratory will test food grain samples for chemical parameters
  • Laboratory was inaugurated by Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Ashwini Kumar Choubey.
  • It was inaugurated at Institute of Food Security (IFS), FCI, Gurugram (Haryana) on November 21, 2021.

Launch of Short Film

The Minister also launched short films on ‘Fortification of Rice’, ‘bursting myth’, ‘Radio Jingles’, & Social Media collaterals on rice fortification’. These short films were launched in line with the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav by DFPD. The celebration was started on November 15, 2021, and was concluded on November 21, 2021.

Food Corporation of India (FCI)

FCI is a statutory corporation which was created and run by Government, under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution. It was established in 1965, with the enactment of Food Corporation Act, 1964. Civil servant of the IAS cadre is designated as Chairman of the FCI.  Its initial headquarter was at Chennai, which later moved to New Delhi.
