Project CETI
Project CETI is Cetacean Translation Initiative. The main aim of the project is to talk to the majestic marine animals.
About Project CETI
The Project CETI uses artificial intelligence to interpret the sounds of whales and other majestic marine animals. The whales use specific humming sounds to communicate with one another. The Project CETI will record such sounds and explain its meaning.
CETI to use AI
The Project CETI will use Natural Language Processing or NLP of Artificial Intelligence. The Natural Language Processing helps computers to read and understand human languages. It is capable of understanding both spoken and written texts of different human languages. Some of the current Natural Language Processing are spell check, voice text messaging, autocomplete, spam filters, Siri, Alexa, Google assistant, related keyword search engines, etc.
What is the plan?
Under the project, the researchers will train the computers in four billion Sperm whale codas using the technique of Natural Language Processing. The Whale codas are acoustic signals produced by whales. Each sound will be assigned to a specific context. The whales dive deep sown and communicate over great distances. And the whales, especially the sperm whales have brains that are six times larger than the humans. Therefore, it is important to decipher the communication between the whales.
