Centre of Excellence for Fintech to be set up
As per Minister for Science & Technology and Skill Development, C.N. Ashwath Narayan, Karnataka government is to set up a Centre of Excellence for Fintech or Financial Technology in Karnataka.
Highlights
- This move was announced while addressing the inaugural session of Mangaluru Technovanza.
- Mangaluru Technovanza was organised by Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM).
- Government will allocate Rs 12 crore for setting the centre of excellence. Funds will be reserved in the state budget of 2022-23.
Software Technology Park in Karnataka
Government has also planned to set up a software technology park in city. It will be set up with the help of Karnataka State Electronics Corporation Ltd. (KEONICS). Board of KEONICS has already approved the proposal.
Start-ups in Mangaluru
State government will also promote start-ups in Mangaluru region. For this purpose, incentives will be provided under Beyond Bengaluru initiative as well as under the government policy to promote industries across tier II & tier III cities. These incentives will be provided to attract companies for setting their units beyond Bengaluru.
Telecom policy
Government will also launch a telecom policy applicable to the State to extend support to telecom and internet service providers. Under the policy, a single window clearance window will be provided for their projects. It will deal with all aspects for promoting communication services in the State.
KDEM- Beyond Bengaluru Initiative
Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) – Beyond Bengaluru initiative was launched to guide dividends from IT and IT-enabled services sector as well to create employment in tier-2 cities of Karnataka.
