Joint Conference of CVC-CBI
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, delivered a video message to the joint conference of CVC and CBI on October 20, 2021. The conference took place at Kevadia, Gujarat.
Highlights
- During the conference, Prime Minister noted that, deliberations of the conference are taking place in Kevadia which is a place marked by the presence of Sardar Patel.
- Sardar Patel was the person who gave highest priority in making governance a basis of progress, public welfare and public concerns in India.
- He called on officers of CBI and CVC for rededicating themselves to abolish corruption across all the walks of national life.
- He further emphasized that in past 6-7 years, government has succeeded in instilling the confidence that, corruption can be contained.
Central Vigilance Commission (CVC)
CVC is an apex Indian governmental body, which was established in the year 1964 by a resolution of government of India. The body helps in addressing governmental corruption. Parliament enacted a law to confer statutory status on the CVC in the year 2003. The body has the status of an autonomous body. It is free of control from any of the executive authority. It has been charged with the monitoring of all vigilance activity under the Central Government.
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
CBI is the premier investigating agency of India. It operates under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions. It was set up in the year 1965 to investigate bribery and governmental corruption. CBI has been exempted from the provisions of Right to Information Act.
