Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Yojana
The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) was launched in the year 2016 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It came into force on 17th December, 2016.

What is provided under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana?
- Insurance coverage of Rs 50 lakhs per health worker affected by COVID19.
- Free resources of 5 kg of wheat or rice and 1 kg of preferred legumes to 80 million poor people.
- 20 crore female Jan Dhan account holders received Rs 500 per month.
- Increase in MNREGA salary to Rs 202 per day.
- The central government has directed state governments to use the Construction Workers Welfare Fund to support construction workers.
New Announcements
Around 13 lakh Anganwadi workers and over 11 lakh helpers will now be covered under the PMGKY of the government. The Anganwadi workers are utilised for door to door survey, distribution of rations, providing support during home quarantine, vaccination drives, etc. Hence, they have been included under the PMGKY scheme.
