World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day is celebrated around the world annually with the aim to mobilize efforts to support mental health and to raise awareness of various mental health issues. This year, the day is celebrated at a time when the Covid19 pandemic has significantly changed daily life. This has led to various mental health problems in people.

The first World Mental Health Day was celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health. Until 1994, the day did not have a specific theme. But in 1994, at the suggestion of Secretary General Eugene Brody, the day was celebrated with a theme. “Improving the Quality of Mental Health Services throughout the World” was the theme for the year 1994.
