Giant River Otter

Giant River Otter is a South American carnivorous mammal known to be the longest member of the weasel family. It is found mostly in and along the Amazon River and the Pantanal. These social animals have families ranging from 3 to 8 members. It is the noisiest weal species and is known to be highly aggressive and territorial.

Recently, the Giant River Otter was spotted on the Bermejo River in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in north-east Argentina. This animal was earlier thought to be locally extinct in Argentina for over two decades. It is globally listed as endangered since 1999 because of the dwindling numbers.
