Whose is the first recorded burial of an Englishman in India?
John Mildenhall was a British explorer and adventurer and one of the first to make journey to India over land and reached court of Mughal Emperor Akbar in Agra, 1600. He was the self-styled ambassador of the British East India Company in India. His is the first recorded burial of an Englishman in India. Mildenhall was entrusted with the sale of the Company’s goods but he escaped to Persia to avoid this work.
