Godhe Modini

Godhe Modini is a folk dance of Goa that is performed in commemoration of the victory of Maratha rulers over the Portuguese colonialists. The term Godhe means horse and Modini means dance. It is a dance of equestrian warriors and it involves horse like movements. A wooden horse is used as a prop and the dancers wear colourful clothes and ghungroos. A wooden mask is also used by the dancers. This dance is performed during the Shigmotsav celebrations.
