Snow harvesting

Snow harvesting is a method used to address water scarcity in cold deserts and higher altitude regions that experience snowfall. In this method, snow is collected during the winter months, concentrated and stored for use during the summer months when water scarcity sets in. It is used in Ladakh region for irrigation. Himachal Pradesh is set to face acute water shortage this summer due to reduced rainfall and snowfall. The state is looking at the option of snow harvesting.
