Violence Against Women Act

Violence Against Women Act is a US legislation that seeks to fight domestic violence and sexual violence perpetrated against women. The Act was originally introduced in 1990 and was recently reauthorised by the US Congress. The Act provides for a variety of grant programs for funding crisis intervention programs, legal assistance to victims, transitional housing, etc. The original Act created the Office on Violence Against Women under the US Department of Justice.
