India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) Women’s Forum meeting
The Sixth India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) Women’s Forum meeting was organised on March 16, 2021 in virtual mode. The meeting was led by the Ministry of Women and Child Development of the Government of India.
Key Highlights
The virtual meeting was participated by the Ministers and officials who are responsible for Women Affairs of IBSA Countries. The meeting started with the welcome and opening Remarks by Secretary of the Women & Child Development. The Inaugural Address for the meeting was delivered by the Chair of 6th IBSA Women’s Forum, Smriti Zubin Irani. She highlighted that, how the year 2020 witnessed that rights of women & girls are gaining prominence more urgently than before.
About IBSA Meeting
During the virtual meeting, the forum discussed the issues which has contributed in transforming the lives of women. They highlighted the initiatives, policies and best practices which the country initiated for the gender inclusive economy to transform and eliminate the gender-based discrimination & violence against women. This in turn will help in understanding the each other’s systems and programmes. Based on the understanding, the country would be able to create a strategic roadmap in order to promote the gender equality agenda to achieve the sustainable development goals.
India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA)
IBSA is a unique Trilateral Cooperation Forum brining India, Brazil and South Africa together. These countries are the three large democracies and major economies located in different continents. The countries are developing, pluralistic, multi-ethnic, multicultural, multilingual and multi-religious. The forum is committed towards the inclusive sustainable development for the well-being of the citizens. The principles, norms and values of the Forum are participatory democracy, Rule of Law, Strengthening multilateralism and respect for human rights. The forum also makes efforts towards South-South cooperation apart from the conventional areas of exchange of experts and training.
