MADICE project

MADICE project (Mass balance, dynamics, and climate of the central Dronning Maud Land coast, East Antarctica) is a collaborative research project between India and Norway. It is a 4 year project conducted between 2016 and 2020. It studied the floating ice shelves and grounded ice in the central Dronning Maud Land in Antarctica. The project studied the area using snow core and ice core drilling, geophysical field measurements, etc. to understand how Antarctica could contribute to the sea level rise. India’s Maitri Station provided the logistics support for the project.
