LGBTIQ Freedom Zone
The European Union was recently declared as an ‘LGBTIQ Freedom Zone’ following a resolution adopted by the European Parliament. The acronym LGBTIQ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, non-binary, intersex and queer. 23 out of the 27 countries in the bloc recognize same sex unions and 16 countries recognize same sex marriage. The move comes in response to Poland creating over 100 ‘LGBTIQ ideology-free zones’ in its territory since 2019.
