NCPCR or National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights is a statutory body formed under the Commission for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005. The body was established in 2007 under the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Its function is to ensure that all laws, policies, programs and other administrative mechanisms are in consonance with child rights as enshrined in the Indian Constitution. It is concerned with the rights of children (up to the age of 18 years). Recently, it issued a notice to Netflix over the ‘inappropriate portrayal’ of children in its show.
