Draft national migrant labour policy

Draft national migrant labour policy is being prepared by NITI Aayog and a working subgroup of officials and members of civil society. This comes in response to the mass exodus of migrant workers from urban regions to their home villages during the COVID-19 lockdown. The policy provides two approaches – one focusing on financial assistance, special quotas and reservations and the other involving community development.
