N440K

N440K is a new strain of SARS CoV 2 reported in India. This strain is spreading more in the southern states than elsewhere in the country. However, the variant is not unique to India as it has been found in other countries too. Another new variant detected in India recently is the E484K strain. According to a CSIR study, over 5,000 mutants of the SARS CoV 2 are circulating in India.
