Mars Sample Return

Mars Sample Return or MSR project is a long- term multi- step project of which the Perseverance mission is a part. The project seeks to bring back samples from Mars to revolutionise the understanding of the Red Planet. As a part of this project, Perseverance would collect soil and rock samples in 43 canisters which would be left on the Martian surface after being sealed. A Mars Fetch Rover would then be sent by the European Space Agency to collect these canisters and to transfer them to an Ascent Vehicle which would then take them to an Orbiter. This Orbiter would carry the samples to earth.
