Fish pass

Fish passes help fishes cross barriers of dams and barrages. It involves the construction of small steps to enable fishes to climb over the obstacles and help them to reach the open waters on the other side. Its effectiveness is highly debated since there requires the controlling of waters running over these ladders in a way that it adequately catches the fishes’ attention without being too strong and deterring them from swimming against it.
