Shatoot dam

India and Afghanistan recently signed a MoU for building Lalandar or Shatoot dam. With the budget of USD236 million, this dam is expected to provide safe drinking water to 2.2 million people in Kabul and boost irrigation facilities across other parts of the country. This project is part of a series of developmental initiatives announced by the Indian government last year. The Centre is also expected to lead 150 community projects worth USD80 million in the war-hit nation.
