Thapsigargin

Thapsigargin is a drug that is currently being experimented for treating prostate cancer. It is derived from the ‘deadly carrot’ thapsia plant. This plant, found in the western Mediterranean, is fatal to sheep and cattle. A group of researchers from the UK have recently found that this drug is effective against coronaviruses (including SARS-CoV-2), respiratory syncytial viruses (RSV) and influenza.  The drug can be consumed orally since it has stable acidic pH.
