Westward shift in cyclones

The tropical cyclones across the world have been shifting westwards. Tropical cyclones have been moving westward since 1982 at the rate of 30 km per decade. This is bringing more cyclones closer to land but this has mysteriously not resulted in increased landfall. The most prominent of this trend is observed in the west Pacific region where the shift is double the global average. The shift is not significant in the Atlantic hurricane basin i.e. an exception.
