Core collapse supernova

Core collapse supernova or type II supernova is the explosion of a star accompanied by the collapse of its inner material. This occurs in stars that are over eight times as massive as our sun, at the end of their lives. Depending upon its mass, it may develop into a neutrino or a black hole. Recently, scientists from IIT Guwahati have given new insights into the mechanism of this process.
