Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill, 2021

The ‘Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill, 2021 is to be introduced in the parliament during the budget session. This Bill is to facilitate the creation of an official digital currency issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). This proposed law also bans private cryptocurrencies in India, like Bitcoin, Ether, Ripple etc. In 2018, the SC overturned the ban on the use of banks for payments related to crytocurrencies.
