Asian Championship Winner Gomathi Marimuthu stripped off Medal
The Asian Championship Gold medal winner Gomathi Marimuthu has been stripped off the medal and also banned from sport activities for 4 years. The 31-year old athlete had tested positive for anabolic steroid Nandrolene at the 2019 Asian Championship.

Gomathi Marimuthu is an Indian field runner hailing from Tamil Nadu. She won her first gold medal in women’s 800 metre race at the 2019 Asian Athletics Championship that was held in Doha, Qatar. The athlete has been stripped off her gold medal for doping.
With the announcement made by the Asian Integrity Unit, all the achievements of Gomathi between March, 2019 and May 2019 stays annulled. However, the athlete shall appeal against the ban at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The AIU made the announcement after her blood sample turned positive for nadrolone.

Nadrolone is a steroid. It is used in the treatment of anemias, osteoporosis, cachexia, breast cancer, etc.
Court of Arbitration for Sport
It is an international quasi-judicial body that was established to settle disputes related to arbitration. The headquarters of the court is located in Lausanne, Switzerland. Temporary courts are established in Olympic host cities.
