Pankaj Kumar appointed CEO of UIDAI
The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of IAS Pankaj Kumar as the chief executive officer (CEO) of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), which issues Aadhaar.
About Pankaj Kumar
He was currently serving as Additional Secretary in Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). He is appointed as CEO of UIDAI in the rank and pay of Secretary by temporarily upgrading the post.
About Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)
It is a statutory authority under the provisions of the Aadhaar Act, 2016. It functions under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), with the mandate to issue UID or Aadhaar, a 12-digit random number to all residents of India to eliminate duplicate and fake id entities. It is founded by on Government of India 28 January 2009 and is headquartered in New Delhi.
