Takehiko Nakao the new president of ADB assumes office

Takehiko Nakao, Japan’s former vice finance minister, who was elected president of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) by its Board of Governors, ahead of the bank’s annual meet in New Delhi, assumed office.
He was elected subsequent to resignation by the former president of ADB Haruhiko Kuroda in March 2013 to take up his assignment as Bank of Japan governor.

Earlier in March 2013, Japan’s Parliament approved Haruhiko Kuroda, a Finance Ministry veteran to become the Governor of the Central Bank of Japan. Mr. Haruhiko Kuroda was the President of ADB since February 2005 and the Chairperson of ADB’s Board of Directors.
