Keeping in mind 2014 Elections, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav presents a people friendly budget
Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav presented a Rs 23,913 crore deficit budget for the state for 2013-14 at Rs 2,21,201.19 crore.
- The focus of the budget is mainly on poor, farmers, agriculture, rural development, Muslims, backward classes and infrastructure development.
- The budget has a 10% increase from the last year.
- No new tax has been imposed.
- Fiscal deficit has been estimated at Rs 23,913 crore (2.9% of the GDP) .
As Uttar Pradesh is anticipated to play a dominant role in the formation of next government at the Centre, the ruling of UP – Samajwadi Party is keen to broaden its support base and solidify at its home.
