Solution to Global Warming: Re-freeze the Arctic
As per a novel solution offered by an American scientist David Keith to tackle global warming, we could refreeze the Arctic by injecting reflective particles into the atmosphere with the help of a few modified jets. These particles would reduce the amount of sunlight reaching the Earth, engineering a regional effect that could bring ice back to the Arctic.
As per him, slashing the penetration of sunlight by just 0.5% could be possible to restore the sea-ice around the North Pole to pre-industrial era levels. The costing of the operation would be around $8 billion a year. Currently the amount of ice in the Arctic Ocean has melted to an all time low in September, 2012, with the total area covered now half of what it was in the 1980s.
