Apex court asks amend Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 and Rules 2005

The Supreme Court has asked the Centre to amend the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 and Rules 2005 to ensure that the life of seafarers is made more secure and their families are compensated adequately in the event of loss of life. The court showed its concern about increasing piracy and attack on vessel.
