ISRO to launch Earth Observation Satellite EOS-1 and 9 Customer Satellites

The Indian Space Research Organisation is to launch Earth observation satellite, RISAT-2BR2 and nine other customer satellites by November 7, 2020.

About the Earth Observation Satellite

The Earth observation satellite has been code named EOS-01. It aims to support applications in Forestry, agriculture and disaster management. The launch of this earth observation satellite will be the 51st the mission of ISRO.

The earth observation satellite is to be launched on Polar Satellite Launch Vehicles. The customer satellite is being launched along with the EOS-01 under the commercial agreement signed by ISRO with newspace India Limited.

Impact of covid-19 on ISRO

Around 10 missions of ISRO were disturbed due to COVID-19. The mission Gaganyaan, Chandrayaan 3 have been postponed. This is mainly because it is dependent on the private sector for its manufacturing equipment. The manufacturing equipment of ISRO predominantly provided by the MSME spread all over the country. The MSME was heavily affected due to Migration of labourers. ISRO also cancelled this year’s Yuvika program

What is Yuvika?

YUVIKA is YUva VIgyani KAryakram. Under the program 3 students from each state and union territory of India, studying in 9th standard, are selected.They are then imported with the basic knowledge of space Technology, space application and space science.It is conducted in four centres of ISRO namely SAC, VSSC, URSC and NESAC.

Gaganyaan mission

The human space flight mission, Gaganyaan was initially planned to be launched in August 2020 to. However due to covid-19it is now being was found.

Current scenario

ISRO is to launch RISAT-2BR2 satellite in November 2020. The RISAR-2BR1 was launched in 2019. The main Hallmark of Indian space activity is its International cooperation. Accordingly, India has signed more than 250 collaboration agreement with 59 countries. India is also training more than 60 persons from 23 different countries in building Nano satellites.
