Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge wins 2016 Delhi Half Marathon

Kenya’s Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge has won the men’s race in Delhi Half Marathon. Ethiopia’s Worknesh Degefa won the women’s title.
It was ninth edition of Delhi Half Marathon. Over 34 thousand participants from across the world had participated in it. 13 Rio Olympians took part in the elite race category.
The marathon also had featured some of the biggest track and field and distance runners, with a total of 25 men and 18 women athletes from country.
Winners
Men’s title

  • Eliud Kipchoge won the race by clocking 59 minutes and 44 seconds to cover the 21.097km distance. Ethiopia’s Yigrem Demelash came second and Kenya’s Augustine Choge was third.

Women’s title

  • Ethiopia’s Worknesh Degefa won the women’s title by clocking one hour, seven minutes and 42 seconds. Ethiopia’s Ababel Yeshaneh came second and Helah Kiprop of Kenya was third.

Indian elite men’s category

  • Lakshmanan won the race by clocking his Personal Best of 1 hour 04 minutes and 37 seconds. M D Yunus came second and Man Singh third.

Indian womens category

  • Monika Athare won the race by clocking her Personal Best of 1 hour 15 minutes and 34 seconds. Sanjeevani Jadhav came second and Swati Athare third.
