PM Modi to launch Rs.16,000 crore worth developmental projects in Bihar
These projects are said to improve infrastructure and ease of doing business for people in Bihar. They will encompass various sectors like LPG pipeline, LPG bottling plant, sewage treatment plant under Namami Gange, water supply schemes, among others.
Puri launches Climate Smart City Assessment Framework 2.0, Streets for People Challenge
Union housing and urban affairs minister Hardeep Singh Puri had virtually launched a roadmap for cities to inculcate a climate-sensitive approach to urban planning and development. The ‘Streets for People Challenge’ aims to inspire cities to create walking-friendly streets amid COVID-19.
Centre releases Rs.6,195 crore to 14 states as post devolution revenue deficit grant
The Centre released the sixth equated monthly instalment of the Post Devolution Revenue Deficit Grant as recommended by the 15th Finance Commission to 14 states. Post devolution revenue deficit grant is the mechanism provided by the Finance Commission for the Centre to compensate for states’ revenue loss.
Union Health Ministry initiates recording of data on post-COVID-19 complications
As part of this exercise, the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is likely to carry out a telephonic survey among the recovered COVID-19 patients in the country using the existing database. The ICMR is working alongside NCDC on developing a registry of post COVID-19 complications to capture data on the same.
Gujarat, Andaman and Nicobar islands top States’ Start-up Ranking Framework, 2019
Gujarat retained the top position amongst states in the 2019 ranking for providing strong support to the startup ecosystem. Andaman and Nicobar Islands led the category of Union Territories and North-Eastern states during the same period. All UTs, except Delhi and all states in North-East India, except Assam, were ranked in the second category.
Gujarat unveils its first Heritage Tourism Policy
Under the policy, the state government will provide an aid of Rs.5-10 crore to new or existing heritage hotels for renovation and expansion. Rs.45 lakh to Rs.1 crore will be provided to the developers as aid to start new or restore existing heritage museum, heritage banquet hall and heritage restaurant.
Researchers develop software to collect data on COVID-19 and its mutations
Researchers in Australia developed a software tool called Covid-3D, which can collect genomic and protein information about the coronavirus and its mutations, which may support in drug development. The software contains information about all the protein structures that coincide with the SARS-CoV-2 genome and also the genetic mutations.
