Defence Institute of Advanced Technology topped Smart India Hackathon-2020

Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) has won the first prize in the Smart India Hackathon 2020, a national level digital product building competition. The Pune-based institute has been awarded by the Defence Ministry for its product research and development.

Details

The Defence Ministry has stated that the team of six members from the institute provided a solution titled ‘DRISHTI’ to recognize face, expression and gesture using Artificial Intelligence. The team was led by Dr Sunita Dhavale and won the first prize of Rs 1 lakh for solving the problem statement MS331 in the category of software posed by Madhya Pradesh Government.

About DIAT

Defence Institute of Advanced Technology is a deemed university under the Department of Defence Research and Development. This is the second time the organization has won the award and that also in the consecutive years.

What is SIH 2020?

The Smart India Hackathon 2020 is a 36-hour non-stop digital product building competition for software edition organized jointly by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and All India Council for Technical Education. This year the competition was organized between August 1 and 3 at Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
