‘Swachh Bharat Kranti’ book launched

The book ‘Swachh Bharat Revolution’, edited by Shri Parameswaran Iyer, Secretary of Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, has been translated into Hindi and published as ‘Swachh Bharat Kranti’. The book has been launched by the Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Union Minister of Textiles and Women and Child Development, Smt. Smriti Irani.

What is the book about?

This book is regarding the journey of the Swachh Bharat Mission through 35 essays by a range of stakeholders and contributors to this program of the government, thereby sharing their perspective on the social revolution. These essays have been arranged as per four key pillars of the Swachh Bharat Mission and its success: Political Leadership, Public Financing, Partnership and the Participation of People in the mission. Various contributors to be book are Arun Jaitley, Amitabh Kant, Ratan Tata, Sadhguru, among others.

What is the Swachh Bharat Mission?

This program was started in 2014 in order to ensure universal coverage and to focus on sanitation in the country. This is implemented by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation. There are two components – SBM Rural and SBM Urban. The rural component is based on achieving a clean and ODF India whereas the SBM Urban is also based on waste management techniques. Recently, the second phase of the program is being implemented from 2020-21 to 2024-25.
