‘Thenzawl Golf Resort’ project inaugurated in Mizoram under ‘Swadesh Darshan’
The Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism has virtually inaugurated the ‘Thenzawl Golf Resort’ constructed under the Swadesh Darshan Project of the government. The project was sanctioned as part of the Integrated Development of Eco-Tourism in the state.
Details of the Project
This project is part of the Swadesh Darshan – North –East Circuit at Thenzawl and South Zote, District Serchhip and Reiek, Mizoram. The total cost of the project is Rs 92.25 crore out of which Rs 64.48 crore has been sanctioned for various components at Thenzawl including the golf course. The golf course is designed by Graham Cooke and Associates, one of the topmost Canada-based Golf Course architecture firm. The total site area is 105 acres and the play area is 75 acres in this golf site. The golf course is expected to have facilities of international standards such as Eco-Log huts, cafeteria, Open Air Food Court, Reception Area and Waiting Lounge, etc.

It has a strong potential in India since the climatic condition is favourable here as compared to most countries. Along with that, the beautiful landscapes and exceptional hospitality services can add to the golf tourism advantages in the country. As of now, India has around 230 golf courses in all. The Ministry of Tourism is also developing golf tourism in the country. India has several golf courses in the country and also attracts domestic and international tourists to the existing golf courses in the country. A comprehensive and coordinated framework is being created for the promotion of golf tourism in India.
