World Youth Skills Day: 15th July

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has addressed the youths of the country through the Digital Skills Conclave, on the occasion of the World Youth Skills Day and has advised them to always upgrade their skills in order to stay relevant in the rapidly changing business environment. The World Skills Day coincides with the 5th Anniversary of the ‘Skill India’ Mission launched by the Government of India. The Prime Minister has also emphasized on the need to align the Indian standards with that of the global parameters.

What is World Youth Skills Day?

As per the United Nations General Assembly resolution in 2014, 15th July has been marked as the World Youth Skills Day. The main objective is to create a better future for the youths by imparting skill-based training in them. The theme of the World Youth Skills Day for 2020 is “Skills for a Resilient Youth’’. Education and skill development are also parts of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

What is the Skill India Mission?

The program was launched by the Government of India in order to create opportunities, scope and space for the development of the youths in the country. The focus is on the sectors that are under stress due to lack of skilled people. It has the target of skilling 40 crore people in various skills by 2022.
