CBDT and SEBI sign Memorandum of Understanding
On July 8, 2020, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement will facilitate exchange of data between the institutes.
Highlights
Several other steps are being taken to improve the data sharing mechanism between the institutes. A data Exchange Steering group has been constituted to initiative the facility of data sharing.
The GoI has so taken several measures to facilitate data sharing
National Data Sharing and Accessibility Policy of India
The policy was launched in 2012. The policy facilitates to access shareable data owned by GoI in human readable and machine-readable forms. The policy is applicable to various ministries, subordinate offices, departments, organizations and agencies of GoI.
The policy was framed based on United Nations Rio Declaration on Environment and Development.
Open Government Data Platform
The Open Government Data Platform in India provides access to resources published by GoI ministries, organizations and other departments. It is a joint initiative of GoI and US Government.
After the launch of Digital India Programme, current version of Open Government Data platform has been included under one of the important initiatives under Pillar 6, which is Information for All.
