Indian Air Force SASO conference inaugurated
On July 2, 2020, the Indian Air Force Senior Air Staff Officers (SASO) conference was inaugurated by Chief of air staff and air chief marshal.
Highlights
The conference was conducted through video conferencing. It is the first time the Air Force is conducting a conference virtually. The conference emphasized the need to enhance operational capability of Indian Air Force.
The Conference was inaugurated by the Indian Air Force Chief RKS Bhadauria.
About SASO Conference
The conference is held bi-annually. This time, the conference is to focus on operational capability enhancements, contemporary challenges in automating efforts in Indian Air Force.
Chief of Air Staff
The Chief of Air Staff is the head of Indian Air Force. The current Chief of Air Staff RKS Bhadauria took charge in September 2019.
Appointment Committee of Cabinet
The appointment of Chief of Air Staff is made by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet that is chaired by Prime Minister of India. The committee comprises of the PM, home minister. The committee also make appointments of chiefs of all the three services, director general of military operations, scientific advisor to the defence minister, solicitor general of India, Governor of RBI, chairman and members of railway board, secretariat posts above the rank of joint secretary, controller general of defence accounts, etc.
