Garib Kalyan Rojgar Web Portal launched

On June 26, 2020, the Union Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar launched a web portal for the successful implementation of Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan. The portal is to provide scheme related information to the people.

Highlights

The Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan was launched by PM Modi to provide employment to the migrant workers returning to their home towns. The programme is to be implemented in 116 districts in 6 states for a period of 125 days. It is an employment cum rural infrastructure development programme.

About the portal

The portal will provide information about district wise and scheme wise components of the programme. It will also help monitor the progress of works under the programme.

After the launch of the portal, the ministry also conducted a workshop for the nodal officers chosen for 116 districts. These officers are civil servants that are of the rank of joint secretary.

Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan

The Ministry of Rural Development is the nodal agency for implementing the programme. The ministry is to work in close association with 12 other ministries. The employment for the migrant workers are to be generated in 25 different categories.
